A Minor Account is an e-wallet account created by the legal guardian of a minor. It allows the guardian to manage the spending of their children between the ages of 6 and under 18 years old.
Definitions
- Minor: Any individual (male or female) under the age of 18 years old
- Guardian: The legal guardian who represents the minor and is responsible for opening and approving the e-wallet account.
- Wallet Account: An account created and managed by the guardian for the child.
- Account Permissions: A list of permissions that the guardian allows the minor to use, within a specified monthly spending limit.
- Guardian’s Wallet: The main wallet belonging to the guardian, through which the minor’s account is created.
Eligibility
The guardian is allowed to open a minor’s wallet account for children aged 6 to 18 years through their own active wallet.
How to Open a Minors Account
- Update the app to the latest version
- Tap on the “Minors Account” icon on the home screen
- Follow the on-screen steps and enter the required information
- Complete identity verification via Nafath
- Download the app on your child’s device and log in using the same mobile number used during registration
Account Creation and Approval
- The guardian must have an active digital wallet account in order to open a minor account.
- The minor account is created and approved through the guardian’s wallet upon their request and consent.
Responsibility
- The guardian bears full responsibility for opening the minor’s account, and for all transactions and services performed through it.
- The guardian is also fully responsible for any misuse or unauthorized use of the account.
Services Available to the Minor Account
- Issuing Barq payment cards
- Access to the Barq Store
- Transfers to other Barq wallets
- Playing in the Game Center
Usage Limitations
- The maximum monthly usage limit for the minor’s wallet account is SAR 3,000 only.
- Minors are not allowed to perform the following:
- Local or international transfers
- Cash withdrawals
- Receiving transfers from any party other than the guardian
- The guardian may authorize another individual responsible for the minor to manage the account and define its permissions.
